Our advisory board
Wells for India draws on a wide range of expertise to ensure that our project work is as effective as possible. Our advisory board plays a key role. We are extremely grateful to each member for donating their time and expertise.
Ms. Usha Agarwala: Now retired, Usha Agarwala taught postgraduate classes in social work for 35 years at the University of Udaipur, where she was Principal of Udaipur School of Social Work. As Director of the Centre for Women’s Studies and of Childline, both in Udaipur, she brings many years' relevant experience.
Dr. D.K. Chadha: Dr. Chadha has 44 years' experience in the field of earth science. He was Chairman in the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India, and is currently involved in Research and Development supported by the Government of India, UNESCO, and UNDP-Ministry of Environment & Forests. In his work on water & the environment, a key project involves earthquake precursor studies, climate change & water resources, desalination, and watershed management & artificial recharge.
Dr. M.S. Rathore: Born and brought up in Udaipur, Dr. Rathore’s first lectureship was at the University of Udaipur. He was Associate Professor at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, gaining his PhD in Agricultural Economics in 1980. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the University of Sussex and is currently Director of the Centre for Environment and Development Studies, Jaipur. He has done consultancy work for the FAO, World Bank, UNDP and the EU, among others, and contributed research papers to numerous academic journals.
Dr. Amita Shah: As an economist, Dr. Shah has wide experience of research on the rural economy. Special focuses include: dryland agriculture and forestry; environmental impact assessment; gender and environment; and small-scale rural industries. More recently, she has been involved in a number of studies including chronic poverty in remote rural areas, migration and the status of women in agriculture. Over the last 22 years she has worked with a number of government and non-government organisations on policy formulation.She has published around 100 research papers, and been invited as a Visiting Fellow to academic institutions in the UK, China, France and the Netherlands.
Dr P.K. Singh: Dr. Singh is presently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Soil and Water Engineering, University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, India. He has 22 years' teaching and research experience in the field of rainwater harvesting, watershed management and groundwater hydrology. He has published 50 research papers in National and International Journals and authored 7 books in this field, visiting Florida University in 2010. He is Principal Investigator of All India Coordinated Research Project on Groundwater Utilization.
